Kennedy Center artistic director

Marta Casals Istomin has been appointed artistic director of the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Mrs. Istomin was co-chairman (along with her husband the late Pablo Casals) and music director of the Casals Festival in Puerto Rico. She is now married to the noted American pianist Eugene Istomin.

Mrs. Istomin's title is new to the center, and she will be in charge of all artistic programming at the Center except for theater, which Roger L. Stevens will continue to oversee.
