Baseball's free agency period is now in full swing and one of the biggest catches is already receiving feelers.
New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman traveled to Arkansas this week to meet with free agent pitcher Cliff Lee, who is the top hurler on most teams' wish list.
Lee was 12-9 this past season with Seattle and Texas. He was 3-0 during the American League Division and Championship Series against the Rays and Yankees. But he lost twice to the Giants in the World Series. Prior to that, Lee's best season was in 2008, when he won 22 games.
After having lunch with Lee, his wife and agent Wednesday, Cashman told the YES Network that the team is not in a 'desperate situation,' if they don't land the 32 year-old lefthander.
However, don't expect a quick decision by Lee on his next team. The Red Sox, Cubs, Angels, Dodgers and Phillies have all reportedly expressed initial interest in Lee, along with his most recent club, the American League champion Rangers.
