Numerous governors are promoting new limits on abortion – or have already signed legislation. Here’s a rundown:

6. Kansas: Life begins at fertilization, under new state law

On April 20, 2013, Gov. Sam Brownback (R) signed legislation stating that life begins at fertilization. The law also prohibits abortion clinic employees from teaching sex education in schools; requires clinics to give women information about fetal development and the alleged health risks connected to abortion; bans tax credits for abortion services; and prohibits abortion based on the fetus’s gender.
