NCAA tournament: Morehead State joins Top 10 Cinderella teams

One of the most enjoyable things about the NCAA tournament - for basketball fanatics and casual observers alike - is the Cinderella story. This list looks some of the best upsets in NCAA tournament history.

Texas Western College (1966)

Louie Dampier (10) of Kentucky passes over the head of David Lattin (42) of Texas Western to teammate Larry Conley (40) in the first half of the NCAA championship game at the University of Maryland, March 19, 1966. Behind Conley is Thad Jaraos (55) of Kentucky.

Texas Western, (now known as the University of Texas at El Paso, or UTEP) won the NCAA Championship Game with wins against Oklahoma City, Cincinnati, Kansas, and Utah, before meeting Adolph Rupp’s Kentucky Wildcats in the title game. Adding more meaning to this Cinderella story was the fact that Texas Western was the first team with an all-black starting lineup to win a title.
