Gulf lands plan joint effort to foster regional security

Six Gulf states, including some of the richest Arab oil exporters, decided to set up a council for Gulf cooperation to pool resources and safeguard the stability of the region.The official Gulf News Agency said here that foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain made the decision at a meeting in Riyadh, Saydi Arabia. The new organization would consist of a council of Gulf rulers, a council of foreign ministers, and a secretariat, the agency said, adding that the six foreign ministers will meet again in Oman on March 8 to approve final de tails.
