Afghan guerrillas attack rally of regime officials

Afghan guerrillas attacked a rally attended by leaders and officials of Afghanistan's ruling party in Pagman, northwest of Kabul, causing heavy casualties last week, a western diplomatic source in New Delhi said Tuesday.
Quoting diplomatic reports from Kabul, the source said several hundred people were killed or wounded in the attack. Reports from other Delhi embassies spoke of a smaller number of casualties, saying party leaders who were addressing about 1,000 officials, were whisked away in jeeps when the guerrillas attacked.
