One Washington matter; one Jovian:

*Reopen Pennsylvania Avenue - one way or the other. The White House's street has been closed off since last year's bomb blast in Oklahoma City. There's a bipartisan move in the Senate to reopen it to cars. And the Park Service has put forward a plan to develop a curved pedestrian walkway connecting Lafayette Park to the White House. We slightly prefer the latter. But either is preferable to perpetuating the current blocked-off symbol of national fear.

*Enjoy your weather. We've long thought that, with the possible exception of windy rain at an outdoor wedding, normal weather is something to take as it comes. Word from the Galileo probe that weather systems on Jupiter may last 300 years or so adds real fervor to feeling about Earth's mercifully changeable weather.
