All A Christian Science Perspective
- ‘Everything is new’
As 2021 begins – and anytime – we can treasure the promise that God’s goodness always brings us renewed joy, harmony, and progress.
- ‘On earth peace, good will toward men’
Here’s a short and sweet offering that speaks to the qualities at the very heart of Christmas. The accompanying audio also includes Mary Baker Eddy’s poem “Christmas Morn” being sung.
- Angels of wisdom
Two thousand years ago, a few “wise men” had an inspiration that kept the baby Jesus safe. Today, too, God’s angels are here to impart wisdom, grace, and peace, even when things get contentious during family gatherings.
- A different Christmas but the unchanging Christ
No matter how different our holiday plans end up this year, one thing remains the same – God’s eternal message of love for us.
- Finding our way through trust in God
When obstacles seem overwhelming, turning to God – and trusting – can make all the difference.
- Christ Jesus – God’s gift to humanity
Receptivity to the light of Christ that Jesus lived and shared with the world fosters healing and reformation – not just in ourselves, but in others, too, when we share God’s purifying love.
- Good we don’t need to wait for
Especially in times of uncertainty and unrest, it can seem as if we need to wait for some future time to find joy and harmony. But the healing Christ is always present to impart better health, fuller happiness, and deeper peace – right here and now.
- Overcoming suicidal thoughts
At times, mental darkness may seem overwhelming. But as a woman experiencing intense thoughts of suicide found, each of us has a God-given ability to know our innate worth as God’s child and feel divine peace and joy.
- Keep on singing
Though ongoing stay-at-home orders may limit our activities, lockdowns can’t stop us from listening for divine inspiration that nurtures productivity, joy, and healing.
- Unselfing the season
There’s a gift we can all freely give and receive that comes from the heart: unselfed love impelled by God, which uplifts and heals.
- Unwrapping the healing gift of stillness
Even when circumstances are turbulent or overwhelming, the Christ-spirit is here to wake us up to the peace and harmony God expresses in everyone. And as a woman experienced when recurring pain came to a head one Christmastime, this spiritual stillness opens the door to healing.
- Peace amid disappointment
If a certain outcome feels unjust, and disappointment follows, we can seek recourse to a higher authority.
- Arise to Love’s providing
If we’re feeling skeptical or doubtful that good is in store for us, we can let God inspire in us a conviction in “the divine spring of supply ... which excludes no one,” as this poem highlights.
- Headed in the right direction? Let God steer.
Sometimes humanity’s problems can feel overwhelming, and we may struggle to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But letting God, divine Love, steer our thoughts and actions opens the door to unity, healing, and progress.
- Upping the love in our interactions
We’ve all had encounters that were less than friendly. But starting from the standpoint that God is Love paves the way for healing and harmony among people as well as animals, as a woman experienced firsthand last winter.
- A voice like no other
Advertisements, social media feeds, comments from neighbors ... voices – sometimes with competing messages – come at us from all directions. But as a man found when faced with a threatening illness, the most powerful and healing voice is the Christ, God’s message of love and care for each and every one of us.
- United in heaven and on earth
No matter our background, fundamentally we are all brothers and sisters in God. And each of us is capable of experiencing and expressing more heavenly harmony and unity, right here and now.
- Live to give
On Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement, this article highlights our innate ability to express selflessness and love toward others – and the blessings that doing so brings to all involved.
- Abiding in joy
When things get tough, happiness can feel out of reach. But there’s a deep, healing, spiritual joy that God imparts to all of us that we can feel in circumstances of all kinds.
- Counting our blessings
In some ways, it may seem an unlikely year for gratitude. But the more we get to know the nature of God as infinite good, the more we find that every day is worthy of our thanksgiving.
