HBO returns to World War II, but this time to "The Pacific," the other side of the world from its bestselling European-based "Band of Brothers." The 10-part series follows a handful of soldiers on and off the battlefield, with loads of period music. But it is the visuals that do the heavy lifting – images of young soldiers slogging through the hell of hand-to-hand combat in malaria-filled foreign lands. The series' creative team includes Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.
