Sicilian regional President assassinated by gunmen

Unidentified gunmen killed the regional President of Sicily, Santi Mattarella , Sunday as he sat in his car outside his home after a family outing, police said.

Mr. Mattarella was a leading Christian Democratic Party member. Police said no one had claimed responsibility for the attack.
