Jury selection began monday in the reckless-homicide trial of Ford Motor Company, charged in the deaths of three young women in a fiery rear-end collision involving a Pinto subcompact car. At issue is whether allegedly faulty design of gas tanks in the early Pintos caused the deaths in the 1978 accident.
