US Steel reports loss that may set record

United States Steel Corporation's fourth-quarter net loss of $561.7 milv lion left the company Wednesday with what was believed to be the biggest quarterly deficit ever posted by an American company. For 1979, the nation's largest steel producer reported it had a net loss of $293 million because of its closing of 15 plants.
