Dissident writer attacked in Soviet newspaper

Lev Kopelev, a writer, has come under attack in the Soviet press for alleged anti-Soviet actions in the first move against a major dissident figure since the arrest and exile of Andrei Sakharov. The newspaper Sovietskaya Rossiya has charged that Mr. Kopelev was teaming up with fascists and "the most rabid enemies of socialism." Mr. Kopelev, who moves widely in Moscow literary and intellectual circles, signed a statement defending Mr. Sakharov after the dissident leader's banishment from the capital two weeks ago.
