Reagan upsets Bush in N.H. newspaper poll

Other polls to the contrary, a random sampling by the pro-Reagan Manchester Union Leader conducted Saturday night showed Ronald Reagan holding a 5 percent lead over George Bush for New Hampshire's Republican presidential primary Tuesday.
Mr. Reagan, the former California governor, had 40 percent support among the Republicans and independents who expressed their preferences, while Mr. Bush, the former UN ambassador, polled 35 percent.
Sen. Howard H. Baker Jr. of Tennessee had 11 percent; Rep. John B. Anderson of Illinois, 6 percent; former Texas Gov. John B. Connally, 5 percent; Rep. Philip M. Crane of Illinois, 2 percent; and Sen. Robert Dole of Kansas, 1 percent.
The poll was a random sampling by the newspaper of 1,000 people via telephone and street interviews Feb. 17-20.
