Dollar up sharply in European marts

The dollar rose sharply on European foreign-exchange markets Thursday, recapturing some of its old attraction as an international currency. As the markets reported a brisk trade in money, one Frankfurt dealer remarked: "The dollar has re-emerged as an attractive vehicle of investment."
