US wants to shed light on those living with solar

Do you live in a solar home? If so, Uncle Sam wants you. The Department of Energy's Solar has sent out a call asking solar homeowners to write it, Monitor correspondents David F. Salisbury reports. It wants information to help design effective government policy concerning residential solar applicants.

The insitute is asking people using domestic hot water, passive or active space heating, wind generators, or hybrid systems to send their names, addresses , and telephone numbers by June 1 to: Solar Users Information, SERI, 1617 Cole Boulevard, Golden, CO 80401.

These names will not be turned over to businesses, the institute promises. But it may contact those responding to get more information about their experiences.
