Brazilian airline crash in thunderstorm kills 54

Fifty-four persons were killed and only 4 survived when a Transbrasil Boeing 727 crashed into a hillside near here Sunday night, an airline spokesman said. The jet, on flight from Sao Paulo, Crashed as it approached this southern port in a thunderstorm. A survivor reported the aircraft was struck by lightning. Transbrasil was unable to say whether any foreigners were on the flight.
