Carter to campaign 'live' beginning in Ohio May 29

May 9, 1980

President Carter will resume his campaign for re-election with a trip to Cleveland May 29 -- just five days before the Ohio presidential primary. The President was to go to Philadelphia today (May 9) to make a foreign-policy speech and hold a town meeting, but the trip is not considered a campaign event, because the state has completed its process for selecting delegates to the Democratic convention.

Except for occasional visits to Camp David and one to Texas to meet servicemen injured in the abortive Iran hostage rescue, Mr. Carter has stayed in Washington since Americans were taken captive in Tehran Nov. 4.
