US calls 17 diplomatic officials home from Cuba

Seventeen US diplomats and their famileis were evacuated from Havana early Thursday because of mounting anti-American propaganda in Cuba. US officials, citing an anti-American demonstration planned in Cuba on Saturday, said they were taking precautionary steps to secure the safety of the diplomats, who were sent to Havana to work in the US visa office.
