Vancouver, Wash,
A giant cloud from the Mt. St. Helens volcano, which has left a trail of dust across country, reached the New York area Wednesday, but weather experts said it was not a health hazard there.
Officials said helicopters have rescued 139 from the area of the volcano. The death toll in the eruption has risen to 10; the number of missing persons is 98. Some 50,000 people in the area are on a flood alert.
