A Good Friend and a Bad Enemy

The sun is very hot in summer. My father says it's quite a bumper. In winter quite the other way, He wants it shining every day. The sun is useful in some ways, But oh, so hot on summer days. It dries up all the little plants, And fades my sister's bright blue pants. It's useful for Mum's Monday wash, But heats me up when I play squash. It makes my father's plants grow well And makes my sister feel real swell. It burn us when we're at the beach. It's always out of human reach. I wish I could switch it off When I get hot and want to cool off.
