Business backing for the arts soars

Business support for the arts reached a record high in 1979, and prospects for generous corporate contributions in the future are bright, according to a survey sponsored by the Business Committee for the Arts Inc. and conducted by Touche Ross & Co.

US business support for the arts rose to a projected $436 million in 1979, outpacing inflation for a 54 percent gain in constant dollars over business contributions to the arts in 1976, according to the survey.
