Carter's Jordan may take leave for campaigning

Hamilton Jordan, President Carter's controversial chief of staff, is expected to take a leave of absence from the White House to become Mr. Carter's deputy campaign director, sources said Wednesday. Mr. Jordan is credited with being the master strategist behind Mr. Carter's winning 1976 presidential campaign, and aides say he has maintained tight control of the re-election efforts.
