Narcotics agents to quiz Phillies baseball players

Pennsylvania narcotics authorities want to quiz at least eight members of the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team about possibly receiving amphetamines illegally from a Reading, Pa., doctor, the Trenton Times reported in a copyrighted article Tuesday. Pete Rose, Mike Schmidt, Greg Luzinski, and Larry Bowa are among the players the state narcotics agents want to question, the paper quoted law-enforcement officials as saying. Agents for the State Drug Law Enforcement Office will speak to the players when they return from to Philadelphia from Los Angeles after a Tuesday All-Star game.
