US lifts Prudential boycott after agreement on tapes

The government will lift its boycott against the Prudential Insurance Company , because the company has agreed to provide the Labor Department with its tapes of employment data after 1976. The question of pre- 1977 data will be heard at a hearing Sept. 8.

The Labor Department Monday ordered suspension or termination of all Prudential contracts with the government, which exceed $180 million yearly, because the company refused to turn over tapes of data needed to examine whether it practices racial or sex discrimination in employment.
