Leading Korean dissident denies inciting riots

South Korea's leading dissident, Kim Dae-Jung, on trial for his life, denied Monday he had incited violent antigovernment riots and testified there was no need for him to overthrow the government because he was confident of victory through election. He said he had asked students not to stage violent demonstrations because clashes with martial law troops would not be good for the students or the country as a whole.
