Mao Tse-tung's widow and the three other members of China's "gang of four" are in cells in Peking's central police headquarters, indicating that their trial may be soon. The four rose to power during the turbulent years of the Cultural Revolution, but were arrested and purged in October 1976, a month after Mao's death. They were accused of plotting to usurp party and state power.
