In 1979, men chose the following post-secondary fields of study in order of preference: business administration, accounting, management, electrical or electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, agriculture, forestry, history, and political science.

The same year women preferred: accounting, secretarial studies, elementary education, business administration, fine art, health technology, sociology, and psychology.
