New director named

David W. rennie of Denver, Colo., has been named to The Christian Science Board of Directors, effective today. He succeeds DeWitt John, a director since 1970 and former editor of The Christian Science Monitor.

Mr. Rennie has been a member of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ , Scientist, in Boston since 1943, has been active in the public practice of Christian Science healing since 1954, and has been a teacher of Christian Science since 1961. For the past three years he has been a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Mr. John, a member of The Mother Church since 1927, was praised by his fellow directors for "years of dedication and experience as a working Christian Scientist. His contribution has been of inestimable value to the Cause he has served with outstanding devotion." In 1962 he wrote "The Christian Science Way of Life," published by Prentice-Hall. He will now return to the full-time public healing ministry of the Church, and to the teaching of Christian Science.

Mr. Rennie is a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Denver. After graduation from Principia College he studied engineering at Purdue University. During World War II, he served as a Christian Science Volunteer Worker while on Marine Corps duty in the Pacific.

The five-member board of which he now becomes a member is assigned by the Church Manual the principal responsibility for overseeing the work of The Mother Church.
