Dissident scientists kept from seminar in Moscow

December 1, 1980

Soviet police barred Jewish scientists for the second successive week from attending a weekly seminar at the home of Viktor Brailovsky, an imprisoned Jewish activist. Officials at the entrance to the block of apartments where the seminar was to take place turned the scientists away and told correspondents to leave the area. The seminars, which have been held for eight years, were organized to enable Jewish scientists who has lost their jobs after applying to emigrate to keep in touch with scientific developments.
