Washington
The State Department said it is considering the sale of additional ammunition and military spare parts to King Hussein in light of the buildup of Syrian forces near the Jordanian border. A spokesman, John Trattner, said, "We are watching the situation closely and call upon all involved to act with restraint."
He said the United States and Jordan "have been consulting" about the sale to Jordan "of further spare parts and ammunition."
One US official said that the additional sales would be limited in size and that "we are not planning to open the floodgates" to sell Jordan all the arms it wants.
