Damascus, Syria
Syrian and Jordanian forces concentrated along the border between the two countries have started pulling back, travelers arriving here said. They said tank carriers and heavy gun trailers were being driven away from the frontier on both the Syrian and Jordanian sides of the border. Syria and Jordan had massed thousands of troops and hundreds of tanks along their border, but the crisis receded last week after Saudi Arabian mediation.
