Afghan protesters held in India as Brezhnev visits

Five people, including three Afghan women, were injured when police charged a crowd of anti-Soviet protesters as Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev arrived here. About 90 of the demonstrators were arrested, but some were believed to have been released later. Police changed the route of Mr. Brezhnev's motorcade into the city and he did not see the protest. About 200 people staged a similar demonstration outside the Soviet Embassy later, but there were no further clashes with police. Mr. Brezhnev is here for a four-day state visit, during which he will have extensive talks with Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
