Solidarity union members staged a warning strike at 600 plants in Olsztyn Province, bordering the Soviet Union, and called a four-hour transport strike in Warsaw to protest government threats to punish workers who stayed off their jobs Saturday. But the union postponed the threatened transport strike by 24 hours, warning authorities it would hold an extended stoppage if the government did not back down from threats to punish workers who stayed off their jobs last Saturday. The national commission of Solidarity called on workers to stay away from their jobs on Saturday until the issue of we ekends is resolved.
