Damaged oil installations high on Iraqi repair list

Iraq, gearing its economy to the war with Iran, plans to increase investment and imports this year by more than 25 percent to repair damage caused by the fighting. First Deputy Prime Minister Taha Yasin Ramadan said the top priority in the 1981 economic plan will be to repair oil installations damaged since the war began. Before the war Iraq produced more than 3 million barrels of oil a day and is estimated to ha ve $35 billion of surplus oil.
