Lusaka, Zambia
Five African leaders condemned South Africa for its continued military attacks on neighboring countries and for the failure of last month's talks on independence for Namibia (South-West Africa).
The president of Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Zambia and Prime Minister Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe said in a communique issued after five hours of talks here that they were deeply concerned by "South Africa's destabilization policy in the region." they added that the South-West Africa People's Organization "had no alternative but to intensify the liberation war in Namibia and . . . reaffirmed their unflinching support for SWAPO."
