Better world food crop predicted for this year

Barring calamitous weather, the latest signs are that a serious world food shortage which had been forecast for this year will be averted, according to international experts. Unusually mild weather in Europe together with large plantings because of last year's tight grain supplies add up to a much more optimistic 1981 food picture than was drawn late last year, said the London-based International Wheat Council.
