Inside Report (4)
March 6, 1981
Worried Polish authorities await the arrival of March 8. That day will be the anniversary of 1968 demonstrations that erupted into street violence when police moved onto a Warsaw university campus to break up a political meeting. Students and workers in five other major cities quickly joined in support.
Students are preparing to mark the anniversary with debates and lectures -- some by well-known dissenting intellectuals.
Polish authorities, under new pressure from the Kremlin, may feel constrained to intervene. No matter what means they employ, however, they could spark a new stud ent challenge.m
