Poland troop maneuvers by Soviets expected

US intelligence has confirmed that the Soviet Union plans to begin large military troop maneuvers in and around Poland later this month, State Department officials said Thursday. While this is a time that such activities are often scheduled, officials said, the Soviet decision to go ahead with the maneuvers added to the tension surrounding the Polish situ ation.
