El Salvador and the Middle East are expected to be high on the agenda of foreign policy issues that West German Foreign Minister Hans- Dietrich Genscher will take up with President Reagan, Secretary of State Alexander M. Haig Jr., and Secretary of Defense Caspar W. Weinberger when he meets with them in Washington today and tomorrow.
The Foreign Minister's visit comes hard on the heels of a Bonn announcement canceling or delaying a series of German military development projects over the next decade. The cuts, a reflection of Germany's current economic difficulties, are expected to create an element of discord between the two countries at a time when Washington is looking to its strongest military ally in Europe to boost defense expenditures.
