US weighs more aid for Poland, warns Soviets

The Reagan administration said Tuesday it is considering economic aid to Poland beyond the $88 million requested for debt rescheduling but coupled this with a strong warning against Soviet intervention. The warning came in a joint US-West German statement issued after talks between Secretary of State Alexander Haig and West German Foreign Minister Hans- Dietrich Genscher.

The Reagan administration also formally asked Congress for an $88 million budget increase to permit rescheduling of Poland's repayment of debt incurred through purchases of US agricultural products.
