New Pinochet term backed by US

President Augusto Pinochet has begun a new eight-year term, with renewed backing from Washington for the dictatorial regime he has run since overthrowing the elected government in 1973. Nearly 2,000 construction laborers worked around the clock to finish the presidential palace for Pinochet's swe aring-in Wednesday.
