Canadian premiers' plan for constitution overruled

Canadian Justice Minister Jean Chretien rejected an alternative proposal for constitutional reform put forward by eight provincial premiers opposed to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's plan. The premiers of Quebec, Alberta, Manitoba, Newfoundland, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island put forward their proposal after meeting here.
