Palestinian legislative unit insists PLO get funds role

April 20, 1981

The Palestinian parliament-in-exile has insisted that the Palestine Liberation Organization should have sole responsibility for allocating funds to Israeli-occupied territories, a function until now shared with Jordan. A joint PLO-Jordanian coordination committee was set up at an Arab summit in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1978 to send money to Palestinians in the occupied territories for aid projects and military operations. But a recommendation adopted here by the Palestine National Council spoke of "the determining role of the PLO in the joint coordination committee."
