Us Customs seizes arms headed for South Africa

Two Britons and four Austrians faced gunrunning charges after agents raided a chartered jetliner and seized over $1 million worth of weapons. US Customs officials said it was the agency's largest weapons seizure.
Authorities said the guns, rifles, and grenade launchers aboard the Austrian-registered plane were of a type used by guerrillas and were apparently destined for South Africa.
After a three-week investigation, Customs agents followed a trailer truck loaded with the weapons and ammunition from Hartford, Conn., to Houston. The arrests were made and arms seized when the weapons we re being loaded on the plane.
