Summer in a city park
June 25, 1981
Even time's gifts, the obelisks, Are gentled by the whispering of green Wherein the mystery of summer And the heart's wonder become one. The figures moving on the path Enter a kingdom sheltered from martial hours. The shouts of children on the tilted grass Drift and rise. The white ball tossed Follows a slow path, smoothed and round, Round and smooth, as it voyages Like a dream along the tender atmosphere.
