July 2, 1981

Fifty Islamic-Marxist guerrillas who were plotting to destroy the Majlis (parliament) were arrested Tuesday night, the new leader of the Islamic Republican Party said. Newspapers said the guerrillas, members of the so- called People's Crusaders group, were arrested after a gun battle with Islamic Revolutionary Guards in which one guerrilla was killed and three others were wounded.

The new IRP leader, Hojatolislam Muhammad Javad Bahonar, said the 50 guerrillas belonged to a leftist group that played a part along with the United St ates in Sunday's bombing.
