The AFL-CIO thinks Britain is just the example to show where Reagan economic policy is taking the US. The labor federation is pointing to similarities between Prime Minister Thatcher's economic policies in England and those of the President. Mrs. Thatcher's sharp spending cuts and efforts to balance the British budget have helped push unemployment in Britain to its highest level since the 1930s -- 11.1 percent in June.
AFL-CIO quotes a British Trades Union Congress official as saying, "If President Reagan adopts Mrs. Thatcher's economic policies, American workers are in for a tough ri de."m
