Egypt and West Germany signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation in nuclear power which would enable Egypt to buy German nuclear power stations of 2 ,000 megawatts, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
A West German delegation will come to Cairo next month for further talks. Egypt, which last year ratified the United Nations treaty on nonproliferation of nuclear weapons, needs eight nuclear power stations during the next 20 years, officials said. France has also agreed to help carry out Egypt's nuclear program.
