New York's enterprising Harold Clurman Theater keeps running movies you wouldn't expect. Right now, a festival of rock'n'roll pictures -- appropriately titled "Shake, Rattle and Roll" -- is proceeding with an opus called Rock City. Filmed by Peter Clifton in London from 1964 to 1973, it features such towering groups as the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Cream, the Small Faces, and the Animals. Then, in a terrific change of pace beginning Aug. 7, the Clurman will show The Uprising, a film about the Nicaraguan revolution. Made in 1980 by Peter Lilienphal, a young West German, it features Nicaraguan townspeople as actors, and is described as more a mood piece than a documentary. Too bad more movie houses don't have such willingness to range the world in search of films you just don't see everyday.
